Who knows how to make some good cocktails? I am hosting a halloween party (I know, it's two months away, so shoot me, I'm already planning) and I was trying to think of some good Halloween Theme cocktails !!

Or cocktails in general that are tasty.

whenever we have our pumpkin carving party, i always make spiced cider. heat apple cider in a big pot with mulling spices. pour into mug with dark rum. it's very fall-ish.

other than that, my favorite cocktail is the moscow mule. ginger beer, roses lime juice, fresh lime juice and vodka.

Well, i don't know. I have to do it at my mom's house, and she lives 20 minutes from where I stay normally. It's really just something i'm experimenting with. I don't even have a subject matter yet. I was thinking I would do a music show.

I was going to make a bulletin on myspace whenever I was planning to go on..

pretty good. we should be finishing up the recording part of our second album in about two weeks.

I make a lot of cocktails.

You could do an orange and black theme with the drinks and make chocolate martinis (with maybe some orange sugar on the rims).

I make a killer mango pineapple martini that is easy to do.

Ghetto Mojitos are good but not really Halloween-ish.

Also, cherry vodka + mango pineapple juice + club soda=divine.

They are perfect for parties. Tequila always brings out the beast in people.

Indeed! Moscow Mules are my favorite cocktail at the moment but to do it 100% right you need copper mugs. Any metal type cup/mug will do (that is safe).

I like to hold cocktail parties. I usually pick 3 or 4 that can be made in jugs. Otherwise you'll spend all evening in the kitchen, and the novelty soon wears off. You should also consider how far you want to go with regards to ingredients, some are pretty obscure.

As for recommendations you cannot go wrong with a Dark & Stormy or the classic Mojito

D&S

1 measure dark rum (Goslings Black Seal is best)
0.5 measure of freshly squeezed lime juice (all fruit juices should be freshly squeezed and never for concentrate)
2 tsp Sugar Syrup (This can be bought but it is soooo easy to make)
2.5 measures of Ginger Beer (Not Ginger Ale)

Method

Put 5 ice cubes in a glass, add all ingredients in order, garnish with some lime wedges, stir. Piece of piss....

Mojito

10 fresh mint leaves (Crushed in glass)
5 Ice cubes crushed (if you don't have an ice crusher, stick em in a tea towel and smash with something heavy)
1 measure white cuban rum (preferably not Bacardi)
2 tsps of fine sugar
0.5 measure of fresh lime juice3
1.5 measure soda water

Method

Wash the mint leaves and place in a highball glass, crush them using a pestle then add the sugar, add the crushed ice and the other ingredients, stir to disolve the sugar.

This recipe can be ammended by replacing white rum with spiced dark rum & the soda water with ginger beer, to make a spicey ginger Mojito.

If all else fails google the name Dale DeGroff, the man is a legend.
