When I was a kid(around 8 to 10 yrs old) I was playing over at a friends house in their carport and their hounddog wouldn't let us go around the corner to their front door area. He tugged at our clothing and barked and carried on quite frenetically.

I couldn't stand not looking so I walk around the corner only to see the biggest snake I've ever seen outside of a Zoo. It was probably just a King Snake which are huge and scary but not poisonous.

I thought that was very cool the way the dog was trying to protect us.

Wow.

My Dad looked out our window one day and saw my younger brother, who was about two at the time, running down the driveway and towards the road. Before he could do anything, the dog raced down the drive and grabbed my brother's clothes to stop him.

He used always make sure he was between us and the cars if we were ever cycling or walking on the road.

Man's best friend.

My 4 month old lab mix recently did something very similar.

My mother was walking with my 2 year old daughter and my dog. My little girl got away from my mom and ran off. My mom, of course, let go of the leash in order to run after her grandchild, but my dog quickly ran to my daugher and knocked her down before she could get to the street. Sometimes I think my dog is a doofy lil pup, but she knows stuff, she really does.
