I thought Obama really stood his ground on the debate in regards to how one would approach other nation's leaders.

I'm glad to see that FOX NEWS thought he won... haw haw! Funny.

As I am sure was said earlier......McCain needed to win this one BIG, since this was on foreign policy, his supposed strong point. The first half, on the economy, he was defeated soundly by Obama. The second half, was a bit more even, but overall, I don't think this will help McCain in the polls. McCain SOUNDED smart about all that stuff, but he should have. Dropping names and saying "you don't understand" just came off as desperate to me.

Although, hasn't Rupurt Murdoch stated he was rooting for Obama in an interview? So, naturally, wouldn't Fox News sway with Rupurt?

FUX news.

Also, McCain didn't look Obama, or the camera, in the eye from what I saw. Obama did both. McCain sounded like a grumpy old man lecturing Obama. He sounded arrogant, patronizing, and really didn't tell me anything that I wanted to hear. Obama did. I felt he was speaking to all Americans, not just his supporters. Key.

Pretty dull, typical debate. Good for learning how the candidates interact, but not much else.

A couple of things stood out to me

I liked when they were talking about going after al-qaeda or Taliban operatives inside Pakistan and mccain said "you don't say that out loud", referring to Obama's position that he will order attacks in pakistan if the opportunity arises. i chuckled.

Mccain was really going after the Jewish vote, with all the Israel talk.

And finally both mccain and Obama are gung ho to lose in Afghanistan. They should get the fuck outta there.

I bet you all can't wait for the Canadian debates coming up Smile

haha On CNN (and what the FUCK was up with their ridiculous analyst pointspread and audience-meter?!) they showed a split screen of a GOP viewing party and a CBC (Congressional Black Caucus) viewing party. My buddy was like "Why is everyone in Canada black?" Big Grin

My friend said the same thing! And we got a great laugh out of the GOP screen with the ridiculously frumpy old woman right up front.

Well we loved the Anderson Cooper 360 reaction to the debate...

Someone I forget: Well, McCain did make one stumble by mispronouncing the name of the Pakistani President, which is difficult for Americans to pronounce, but still...

Some doofus defending McCain at every step: Well, he got most of the vowels and consonants right.

Someone is reaching.

Exactly. By not directly addressing Obama...hell, not even making eye contact with him, while Obama looked and talked directly to McCain...McCain came across as a grumpy old, condescending dick.

(I feel a little bad about my enthusiasm to see her stumble, so I will note that Biden hasn't been the best with words either)

He hasn't been, yet I manage to feel a helluva lot more confident that he knows what he's talking about. I don't need to hope she stumbles; unless they give her an earpiece, I'm counting on it.

If anything Stewart could probably have a field day just listing the number of times he said "Ronald Reagan" throughout the debate.

I thought the same thing though about how many times Obama said "I agree with Senator McCain..."

This is a debate! agree nothing!

(oh hey, John, I really love Gogol Bordello. One of the best concerts I ever saw. Your location is smile-inducing)

John McCain beat Jon Stewart to it. Ugh. I guess you have to fight back when even the conservative media says you lost. I told Barack to stop agreeing with McCain, but did he listen?

Ugh. Pretty low shot considering they pretty much fought to the death over everything else.

I don't see how you can crow on and on about bipartisanship and reaching across the aisle and then try to use consensus against your opponent. Stupid old man.
