I guess if it's an incentive to develop technology like those cables it's probably worth it, but it seems like a rather silly notion to me otherwise.

i very much agree, the worst part of that article was the mention of waste dumping. who would want to live up there, when and if they find its possible if theres being chemical waste floating about, no matter how infinite the universe is.
and i think its going to look absolutely hideous! with something that massive wouldnt there be some great negative impact of a structure that size just chilling there...

Actually, I do think it'd be pretty cool to be able to see something so tall it disappears off into the clouds... and knowing it goes all the way into space.

kinda like the light beams they did a few years ago? theyre cool, im just not sure how nice this'll be. probably cost a few million to take a joy ride.
