That Bad Brains album got me thinking - anyone got Bad Brains classic 'I Against I'? I'd torrent it, but uTorrent's way to busy downloading old Dreamcast fighting games just now.

Here's a little record I've been enjoying a bit... This and old Jayhawks. It's pretty much the next best thing to new Jayhawks stuff anyway. Smile

Golden Smog- Blood On The Slacks

1. Can't Even Tie Your Own Shoes 3:09
2. Starman 4:42
3. Look At You Now 3:04
4. Scotch On Ice 3:14
5. Magician 1:20
6. Without A Struggle 3:14
7. Tarpit 3:07
8. Insecure 3:03

AMG Review:
Golden Smog introduces their fans to the "post-Jeff Tweedy era" on this eight-song EP, the first release from the semi-supergroup to not feature the Wilco frontman as part of the lineup since 1995's Down by the Old Mainstream. Given Tweedy's minimal participation on the 2006 album Another Fine Day, his absence shouldn't come as a tremendous surprise, and this EP follows a creative lead similar to the album, dominated by smart but gently sloppy melodic structures and vocals that wobble back and forth between heartfelt and purposefully goofy. (Two of the songs here, "Can't Even Tie Your Own Shoes" and "Look at You Now," are leftovers from the sessions for Another Fine Day, so it's no wonder some of the approach rubbed off.) A few numbers, like the keyboard-dominated "Magician" and the shambolic punk pastiche closer, "Insecure," sound as if they were tossed off for laughs, and two covers pad out the running time, but "Without a Struggle" is a splendid new song buoyed by Gary Louris' vocals and "Scotch on Ice" sounds like a rough draft for another fine number if these guys ever buff off the rough edges. With the future seemingly hazy for both the Jayhawks and Soul Asylum (whose members dominate Golden Smog at the moment), Blood on the Slacks' pearly moments suggest these guys might be saving some of their top-shelf ideas for this band for a change, even if they didn't spend a lot of time sweating over the finished product.

Odd Nosdam's Burner is a digest of field recordings, Moog synths, staticky samples, and scattershot drums, all waxing and waning around immovable slabs of buzzing bass. It splits the difference between the eschatological IDM of Boards of Canada's Geogaddi and Keith Fullerton Whitman's coruscating dronescapes.

Odd Nosdam - level live wires (2007 leak)

hxxp://www.mediafire.com/?fim1kd5mmuy

Odd Nos makes a return after 2005's Burner album, by releasing his next long-player Level Live Wires for Anticon on August 28th.

The label describe the nine-track LP as "8-track cassettes, samplers, synths and Dictaphones, lost records and found sounds, field recordings and happy accidents are brought to stirring life by our humble collagist."

Joining Odd Nos on the project are a number of collaborators like label mate Why? and Jel, as well as TVOTR.

The first initial pressing of Level Live Wires will include a bonus limited edition disc, featuring what Anticon describe as an ambient EP. The CD and 12" will both include deluxe, embossed packaging.

Level Live Wires Track Listing:

01. On
02. Kill Tone
03. We Dead
04. Freakout 3
05. Fat Hooks
06. Blast
07. The Kill Tone Two
08. Burner
09. Up In Flames

Thanks for the Battles record, Windowlicker... I've been meaning to pick this up, and now I'll get a tasty preview before I do.

I'm too lazy to go through this thread, has anyone put up the new Spoon? (because I will).

Yr welcome OTS.

It deserves to be bought on the basis of sound quality alone.
