Is it just me, or does the apple shaped USB thingy seem like a big "fuck you!" to itunes?

Hahah.

Anyway, surprise....it's super expensive!

I'm seeing money signs. Time to get to work!

Looks like only the stereo box set is available, not the mono.. seems strange. It also seems strange to me that they want more for the USB than they do for the CD box set (like $50 more!)

those mini documentaries are crap. Comes out to about $22 an album. Yeah. No thanks. All you need is cash.

The audio files will be provided in FLAC 44.1 Khz 24 bit and MP3 320 Kbps formats.

I can get better FLAC rips free through the wires.

I like how the FLACs of the mono set fit on my flashdrive perfectly. The stereo not so...

Not really... These are 24bit from the master recordings, so they should be the best quality available. The FLACS available for downloads now are taken from the CD (which are 16bit) ... of course these 24bit FLACS will probably be up on the torrents before this thing is officially released...

All thanks to Kliph! Apparently, someone thought I was being accesively rude. Frown I guess I'll stop harassing newbies on the Gen board. I'll play nice...

I think they'll end up releasing these remasters about 5 times altogether... first the CDs, then the USB... then vinyl... then Blu-Ray HD (96/24)... then downloads on ITunes/AmazonMP3...

Maybe not in that order. But yeah, they are staggering the release so that some of us suckers buy the thing multiple times! Brilliant!

Well, they will include 24-bit flac files. However, I am sure the vinyl reissues will come around soon. I'd buy those. I'd also hop on torrents of 24/96 rips of those.

Exactly, Dave. Especially if it's good half speed mastered vinyl. 24/44 doesn't really excite the way it used to.

i can't take this hi-fi format bullshit anymore! look, if you prefer vinyl, you prefer it because it sounds worse, not better! digital files, including cds, hold on to unnaturally high and low frequencies that the mechanics and physics of vinyl tend to roll off. if you want files that sound like vinyl, encode them at 24bit/32khz.
