It could be that they've been so TRAUMATISED by all the beastings and blowing up brown women and children around the world that their view of the world has become corrupted and twisted and they're unable to settle into normal society again.

OR

It could be that yer average fucking British squaddie is such a thick useless (usually Northern) cunt that after the army don't want him anymore his only other skills lie in petty theft, poorly executed sexual assaults etc.
