Daft Punk's Discovery is pretty fantastic. That trio, from "Aerodynamic" to "Digital Love" to "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger," never gets old. Ever.
Also, anything and everything by Prince. Particularly 1999, Purple Rain, Lovesexy (so underrated, in my opinion) . . .

Oh man, this as well. Anything Daft Punk is so much fun to dance to. I'd like to add anything by Madonna and MJ.

Im kind of all over the place. I guess I mainly gravitate to the more minimal side of dance. Michael Mayer, Farben, Seefeel, Gas, The Field...you get the idea. The Kompakt label= not crap. I also dig a lot of the early/mid 90's stuff... The Orb, Primal Scream, Underworld, Aphex Twin, Out Hud, Massive Attack, the KLF, etc. And of course DFA has always had an interesting lineup playing around with disco/house revival: Hurculeus and Love Affair, The Juan Maclean, LCD Soundsystem, and the like.

Yep. Primal Scream and Massive Attack are particularly great.

As far as I am concerned, nothing will ever top "Daddy Cool" by Boney M.

Not to shit in everyone's cheerios, but I find this resurgence in dance music kinda weak. All of a sudden (post Daft Punk) college kids, suburban kids, hipsters, and indiefucks think a 4/4 beat is the raddest shit ever. Never mind that no one would be found dead listening to a disco track twenty years ago. I am just surprised that within the latter part of last decade, and all through the new millennium it's become cool. I guess it's better late than never, but to that end no one is going back and appreciating the rich and diverse history. It's all these new cats either cherry-picking or just straight jacking old school shit without offering anything original; or, it's all diluted and soulless. Of course the argument can be made that anything you can dance to should be considered dance music, but for the purposes of this thread I think the commonly accepted definition would be music that follows a relatively strict definition and aesthetic. I am usually either discovering or re-discovering obscure funk, disco, or house gems. Nothing new really grabs me unless it's some old school dj doing a white label underground mix of something as current as Hercules and Love Affair. Speaking of Hercules and Love Affair, Crue-L Grand Orchestra did it way better back in the 90's with soul. No one talks about them, though. True disco.
