Still, Soundgarden and FNM were great. (Actually, so were GNR...eventually.) And I got to see FNM's headline tour later in the year, and they were superb. Sorry you had such shitty luck, bluebeard.

the show I was supposed to see was cancelled because of the pyro accident that injured James Hetfield, so it wasn't really Axl's fault (the riot a few years ago was though).. I was able to see FNM twice after this, but it they were both post-Jim Martin. Still great shows. I wonder if Soundgarden went on to replace Metallica on that tour? I remember someone filled in on guitar for Hetfield for a few shows.

Well this wasn't officially an "opening act and headliner" concert, but Les Claypool/Flaming Lips at The Allgood Festival was a fucking great time.

That's what I wanted to hear, I'm going tonight. I really never thought I'd have the chance to see these guys play.

No joke, probably in the top 5 best shows I have EVER seen. I'm so glad I went. I was going to sleep and then remembered they were playing at my work, so I grabbed a friend and we sat in a VIP box in the pavilion for free and got free beers (Ahhh I love my job!) and watched the most kick ass show!

Have a great time and let me know how it is! Everyone else who has the chance, should go see them.

What can I say? These dude's can play. Stanely has never let me down, his tone is perfect. It was also a show with The Flecktones who as always are amazing, they opened up with Big Country one of my favorite songs from any artist.

Was that a SXSW show? I was there if it was. I loved Damnations TX.

Yeah it was during SXSW 1999...free show to end the week.

i saw ben folds open for tori amos. That was a nice show.

Yeah, I've probably seen you there before then.

And as to the other reply, yeah it wasn't my favorite 1-2, but it should have been. I really don't have a favorite- haven't been to enough shows to have experienced something worth mentioning.

Hopefully the Lips and Mogwai will be a good double whammy in Belfast next Monday. Mogwai can be very hit-and-miss.
