So it wasn't your favorite 1-2?

Mine would probably be Wilco-REM in 99. Outdoors. The only time I got to see Wilco with Jay. Michael Stipe waved to me.

Hmmm...

Radiohead opening for REM was pretty cool, even though I only knew that "Creep" song.

Flaming Lips opening for the White Stripes was an awesome New Years show.

The Black Keys opening for Dr. Dog was cool...too bad one of the Dog guys wasn't there, so Dan from the Black Keys sat in.

Ween opening for Claypool's Bucket Of Bernie Brains was a complete mindfuck. I'd blame the drugs, but that wasn't completely it. That show was insane.

Super Furry Animals opening for Grandaddy was cool, but it should've been the other way around.

Midlake opening for the Starlight Mints was quite nice.

And Traffic opening for the Grateful Dead was pretty fun too.

Wow!

I attended this show too.

my 19th birthday... (for non-BCers, that's the equivalent of your 21st bday in the US). went to the town pump afterwards hoping that PJ would make an appearance, as he suggested they would during their set..

We don't generally get good support bands in Ireland, it's nearly always derivative local outfits, but a couple that stand out in my memory are

Stereolab/Tortoise (1996)

Nirvana/ Teenage Fanclub/ The Breeders (1992)

I had tix to Metallica, GNR, Faith No More, but the tour was cancelled. I was so looking forward to Angeldust era FNM... The "GNR" show I had tix for a few years back was also cancelled. Just not meant to see them I guess..

In retrospect, I suppose that was the beginning of the end for GNR. They were a couple of hours late for the show I saw. At the time, they said it was because they hadn't arrived, but it transpired that Axl was just having a hissy-fit backstage. Roll Eyes

Still, Soundgarden and FNM were great. (Actually, so were GNR...eventually.) And I got to see FNM's headline tour later in the year, and they were superb. Sorry you had such shitty luck, bluebeard.

Was that a SXSW show? I was there if it was. I loved Damnations TX.

That's what I wanted to hear, I'm going tonight. I really never thought I'd have the chance to see these guys play.

No joke, probably in the top 5 best shows I have EVER seen. I'm so glad I went. I was going to sleep and then remembered they were playing at my work, so I grabbed a friend and we sat in a VIP box in the pavilion for free and got free beers (Ahhh I love my job!) and watched the most kick ass show!

Have a great time and let me know how it is! Everyone else who has the chance, should go see them.

Ah, I miss Fletchers. I've seen some fun shows there. The whole time I was visiting home I didn't make it out to Baltimore once. I wanted to check out the 8 x 10...I've been to many a show there when it used to be called The Funkbox(x?).
