I saw a group of old co-workers that have not seen me in nearly a year yesterday. I am 5'5" and when I started working there I weighed an all time high of 166 lbs. I had lost about 15 lbs before I left there last September. They all thought it was cool. Since then I have lost 30 more lbs. I just weighed myself and i am at 121 lbs. I haven't weighed that since I was 16. They told me that I am on the verge of looking gross.

Since I got braces I cannot easily east bread.

Since I got braces I pass up snacks at work because it is just too gross to be picking my teeth at work.

My new job can be very physical and my old job was a desk job. I used to snack all day long at my desk only to get up to go to the bathroom across the hall.

I have to walk quite a distance in any direction to get to a bathroom at my job.

The commute from my desk to my car = the commute from my car to home.

I have a yard now I am always working in.

I now take an anti-d that curbs my appetite.

BUT I AM EATING! It has taken me 2 years to lose 45 lbs. I don't want to lose more. I also don't want to gain it back. And when I talk about this to anyone they think I am bragging but I don't know if I should be concerned or not. I feel great. I have tons of energy. Even my mom says I look gross. I LOOK GROSS!

I'm wearing a size 8 not a size 3 for fuck sake!

People worry, that's all. It's surprising to see a friend after they have lost a lot of weight. You seem very healthy, and that certainly isn't a dangerous amount of weight to lose. But if you're concerned, go ahead and see a doctor or nutritionist.

well it's not like I lost it overnight. I lost in over TWO YEARS! It's just that I lost 30 of it in one year and that was the year they didn't see me much. Last time I saw them it was winter and I was bundled in sweaters. Yesterday I had on shorts and a sleeveless shirt and they all looked at me with shock. It was a cookout and I had my plate piled with food and one was giving me the dirtiest look. "You are going to eat all of that and you look like that! HOW?" Like I was going to sneak off to the bathroom and barf.

I just don't eat when i am not hungry and I stop eating when i am full and I don't snack much. And I get lots of exercize just by working at work and home.

Honestly I weighed too much when I started. If I had started at this weight and lost 45 lbs that would have been different.

My mom won't let it go.

As long as I have energy and I AM EATING I am just going to have to brush off the remarks. My current co-workers haven't noticed because it has happened slowly since I got there.

they want you to beef up to even the playing field. you're making them feel bad. plus 121 is like a pretty normal weight unless you're like 8 feet tall.

i think commenting on people's bodies like that is just plain rude. whether you think they are thin or fat. it's one thing to express some genuine concern (and sincere concern, not digust or prejudice or envy thinly disguised as concern) over rapid weight loss or gain...and another thing entirely to tell someone you think they are gross.

sorry people are harrassing you, sparkle. your body is none of their business and if you feel you are healthy, then just forget it.

I agree with ms. C and I just wanted to add that I think size 8 is a healthy and beautiful size. not too little, not (by any means) too big. As long as you're not starving yourself or anything destructive, your mom and friends don't have anything to say. Congratulations on the lost weight and the renewed energy!!

I just cannot imagine if one of them had shown up with an EXTRA 45lbs that I would have told them they were grossly fat.

This happened to me so gradually I didn't notice it until my clothes stopped fitting me.

I started taking Welbutrin 2 and a half years ago and it does really cut out my need to eat for comfort. I used to be an all day nervous snacker.

But the real weight came off when they put these god-awful braces in my mouth.

I am sure it is shocking to them because it has really changed the look of my face. But still I left feeling creapy.

I went from 130 in America to 112 in the UK. My mom and dad, when they visited, both said I looked really "thin."

I feel like I look the same. I still have all the squish I had before, I just am more toned in places because I don't drive anymore and I walk everywhere. *shrug*
I still eat the same. Sometimes worse! British people keep giving me biscuits!

So I am average now. Right in the middle of average. I was overweight before.

I just MOVE a lot more now. I am no longer chained to a desk. I actually have muscle tone now. ALL FROM MY JOB AND YARD/HOUSE WORK. I don't go to a gym.

But the woman that was appalled by the amount of food on my plate pissed me off royally. I ATE IT ALL, got seconds and had two beers and didn't barf so fuck her.

I'm just so sick of hearing my mom tell me that I don't look good. I told her I wasn't going to gain the weight back just so she can like the way I look. But that's Mom. Mom's are supposed to give you hell for dumb shit but when a group of people at a party are acting like you are a freak for losing weight. That's disturbing.

I have had FEW people that have made any kind remarks about my weight loss. I have had several unkind things said about it. So I should have just stayed 166lbs. GEEZ!

I mean I hesitated to start this thread because I thought I might get angry remarks. Like I am bragging or why am I complaining. Seriously. I hate to even mention it to anyone.

Haven't seen you in a while.

I DO think my old coworkers were a bit shocked. It really has changed the way my face looks (and so have my braces). But still they wouldn't let it go.

people are dumb about weight. my stepmoms mom always says 'you're losing weight' EVERY time she sees me, which is every few months, if that were true i would be emaciated. anyway...try to ignore them and revel in having renewed energy! (how are the braces by the way? I had them when i was a teenager...i had the metal ones and they hurted )

I'm sure they were just showing concern, people sometimes don't know how to approach situations. Also add a tad of jealousy and right there they say something that they will be beating themselves up for later.

There was no motivation behind it. Don't hate me but I haven't been TRYING. It's just that it is so unpleasant to eat now that I eat just so I don't starve.

These are nasty ass metal braces that cut the hell out of my bottom lip and everytime I get them adjusted a drop a pound or two. I usually end up with a few days of bad headaches.

I am sure I will gain back 20 lbs in the first week they come off and everyone can be happy again.

i think it easily could have been either honest concern on their part because there is something that takes me back when i see a friend who has changed weight in either direction since i last saw them. of course you are right, no one would ever comment on someone gaining which is fine by me if anyone EVER wants to call me grossly thin (wont' ever happen). Or i think they could be jealous bitches
