The last album I bought, as per the recommendation of one of the two people I'll blindly trust so far as recommendations made, was My Love Is Higher Than Your Assessment Of What My Love Could Be by Harvey Milk... and I do, in fact, enjoy it muchly.

The last album I bought would be the Decemberists' Her Majesty the Decemberists a few weeks ago.
Let us know how Proof of Youth is, Hilb. I really dug Thunder, Lightning, Strike.

CELLAR DOOR is one of his finest in terms of outright sound-music. it might be considered his masterpiece at this point
PIXEL REVOLT, his newest just before EMERALD CITY is very good in terms of songwriting-music. it is a headphone album that gets better and better when i listen to it.
and then i suppose the best way from there is to work backwards. its hard for me to be objective about it when i just love all of them.
and im running his merch booth tonight so i get to hang out with him a little
