But what about the underpaid, unheralded lineman who had a father die, or who had a child sick, or who had a wife divorce him? Remember in '01, there was a New York Giants offensive lineman who had a brother that was a firefighter go into the WTC and never come out. What about those people?

He wasn't the only one and he sure as shit didn't have the most difficult problems. I'm not saying the man hasn't overcome a lot; clearly he has. But why is it ALWAYS Brett FUCKING Favre that gets painted as the everyman hero who checks his ego at the door to play through the pain (both physically and mentally)?

For years, the media has ignore him as he's continually held the Packers organization by the balls, playing cat and mouse with the game of retirement, never giving them a direct answer until late in the offseason. And now that he finally retires, who can blame the Packers for moving on? I mean, seriously...

Take this real life situation...you retire from your job, a job you've performed well and faithfully for years. You rarely called in sick, you always covered other people's shifts, and you were almost forced to take vacations. After 35 years of work, you start flirting with retirement. They go ahead and hire your replacement, a real go-getter just out of an ivy league school, and kindly ask you to stay on and tutor him before you leave. You oblige.

And then change your mind. You stay and stay and stay. Three and a half years go by, the go-getter is stuck behind you, and the company can't move him elsewhere because they've invested so much time in getting him prepared to take over for you. And then one day, you decide its time to hang it up.

Three months go by, the go getter is getting adjusted to life in your former role. But, oh wait! You want to return!

Does your company let you? And if so, does the company let you back in the role that you vacated?

In real life, that's doubtful. If they let you return, you take a diminished role.

So Brett Favre...fuck you. If you are an everyman like the media portrays you to be, shut the fuck up, and go to camp and try to win your job back. Or...just go the fuck away. Enjoy retirement. Use your millions and gunsling them into stocks or some shit. Just do one or the other...don't be a fucking baby.
