O Wow O Wow. I'm in Kona and have been frequenting the Kona brewery over the past couple of weeks. They say they use Kona coffee in the Pipeline but to my taste it isn't there 'enough.'

it's definitely more of an aftertaste. but i think it's still very, very good.

You really can't go wrong with a Bell's beer. I went to pick up a sixer of Amber Ale, and while sad to see that season was over, I was happily greeted by the return of Oberon. And then there said Two Hearted. Life really is good.

i've been there a couple times for shows or dinner. it's not that i really dislike their beer....it's more that when it comes time to buy a 6 pack, there are so many things i'd pick over redhook.

So can someone explain the hysteria around Three Floyd's Dark Lord Day?
http://www.darklordday.com/

I saw people were paying thousands of dollars on ebay for a ticket just so they could buy some. Is it foolish of me to ask if any beer can really be "that" good?

I'm not a fan of fans but that would be irrelevant to bring up in a beer thread.

I've been on IPA kick lately as well. Went beer shopping Saturday morning...here's the haul:

Full Sail's IPA
Boulevard Brewing's Single-Wide IPA...Damn! This shit's GOOD!
Widmer Bros.' Broken Halo IPA
Deschuttes' Hop Henge IPA
Sierra Nevada's Torpedo
Oskar Blues' Mamma's Little Yella Pilz
Southern Star's Bombshell Blonde
...and a bomber of Stone's Smoked Porter to round things out.

I'm in love with my fridge right now. Big Grin

Currently drinking Sierra Nevada's Summerfest Lager. It's nice and drinkable, but it hasn't changed my life. But it's still a nice, tasty 5% beer...lawnmower beer, if you will...

When I move back to Austin, I know who I'm hanging out with. Between you and my soon-to-be roomies unquenchable thirst for Jameson's, I'm set. Wink

You're more than welcome anytime. There's a sign on an RV park's tenants's fence on Barton Springs that reads "Life is too short to live in Dallas"...I agree completely. The same applies to shitty beer.

WOOT!
I bottled the Dawn Spawn Double IPA last night. It ended up being a smaller batch due to the wort loss because of all the fucking hops I had in there. Still, I have 1.5 cases of 9% goodness that used almost a full half pound of hops. It's potent... smells great, but needs a month or two in the bottle to mellow.
I transferred my Centennial Pale to secondary. Got the gravity down to a decent 1.008, so it sits to age in the basement for a couple of weeks before I keg it.
Saturday, I brewed an IPA using Simcoe hops, which, when you sniff 'em, your mouth waters and you swear you're putting your nose up to grapefruit. I did well on this batch, exceeding my numbers, putting this one on track to be about a 7% beer. Smells fantastic.

Yesterday I went to the uber beer store and bought some IIPAs for future "research".

4 pack of Dogfish 90 Minute (9%)
A bomber of Southern Tier's Unearthly IIPA (11%)
A bomber of Two Brothers' Hop Juice DIPA (9.9%)
