Yes, although in a brooding, understated kind of style. Drummers awesome as well. Last two albums are very good IMO.

I'm in a rock band and we're not violent or demonic. Pretty goddamn loud, though. Are The NAtional loud? Rock riffs?

It's not folky is it?

I think Emp would define rock band as 'a band that rocks.' Whereas others would define rock band as 'music that has guitars and drums.'

Yea, thats pretty much my definition. Where would you classify them, Hilbert?

Oh, other indications are Tortoise and Built to Spill along with YLT and Jesus Lizard on Friday. It sounds like it will be a listener-request sets for those 4.

How can a rock band be a band that 'does not rock'? This does not compute.

I haven't been to Pitchfork in a coupla years. So, isn't Friday night usually reserved for the ATP selections?

Man, Friday night is going to rule.

The National? I've only heard a bit, but it seems to fit squarely into moody chamber pop -- aspects of Tindersticks and Leonard Cohen, but maybe not as dark.

That's an amazing lineup. Why don't I live in Chicago?

I'm in agreeance. The National does not rock.

And neither does Coldplay, but that didn't stop them from winning a Grammy for Best Rock Album. Confused

Leonard Cohen and/or The Tindersticks most definitely do not rock. Good? Yes. Rock? No.

In all seriousness, Friday looks like the pyjammy-jam. I don't see how Saturday night and SUnday night can compare.

This sentiment was made prior to my knowledge of the Lips capping off Pitchfork. I've seen the Lips probably more than I've seen any other band, and I'm more than a little embarrassed to admit that I've never seen the almighty Jesus Lizard. Wayne better polish up on his tight&shiny routine.

Licky, who is supporting tJL in Dublin. Do you know already? I'm excited for you.
