I know I shouldnt be posting so many person threads on this board but I really need some advice from you guys.

This is my fourth time taking my driver's test for my id and the other times i failed were due to little things which i corrected each time i took it. Like the last time I failed it was due to me going 28 in a 25 mph zone, I was just a minute away from the DMV driving back when this happen.


I have this mental picture of myself taking the test every second now and doing the major things correct. Im just worried about fucking up again on something so simple like going over the speed limit by two.

Help me guys!

relax and focus.

Took me 3 times. I just have major test anxiety. I'm not a bad driver, I just freak out when I know I'm being tested. I've never been in an accident, I'm one of only 2 people my hubby actually trusts driving, but it took me 3 times. So don't let that make you think you're a bad driver or don't know what you're doing. All I did was took some deep breaths, gained some confidence, and pretended that I was the only person in the car and that the thing giving me directions was a recording, a CD playing telling me where to turn. It makes it a lot easier and I passed my 3rd try with flying colors.

it's hard to take the advice, but don't get nervous. Pistachio's right. just make yourself relax, and concentrate on what you're doing, not the person next to you. good luck!

A few drinks beforehand should relax you.

It took me three times too. I couldn't (and still can't) parallel park to save my life.

Just shut up and drive. That's what i did and passed on the first try. I even like missed a turning and ended up going the wrong way. I just asked the guy "there's no time limit, is there?" and he said no and i was like "we're going for a ride babeh", though i left out the babeh. I hit the motorway, because i just couldn't make a turn anymore. Then i ended up driving back through some parts of this little city that i never even visited before. Yeah, i got full marks on everything else, expect "planning the route" and i think i didn't look around for pedestrians at one crossing, but otherwise it was good. Just look at the mirrors a lot, they love that shit.

In New Jersey, you take the driving test in the DMV parking lot. It takes all of 45 seconds.

i was afraid of coming across a bit firey, but after the last two posts -- yeah man -- you should definitely focus on getting it right this time -- a lot of other more difficult tests await you in the future

i suspect you've probably already taken it -- wishing you retroactive luck, if its possible

I passed mine tripping on three hits of acid. My advice? Aim for the middle one, whatever it might be.

Also, wear sunglasses.

One of my best friends hit a dog on his driving test and still passed. He took us to McDonald's the next morning (you know, because he was cool and had a license) and hit the side of he building in the drive thru. Too bad you can't take your test in a state that values someone who can kill things with a car.

When I was learning how to drive, I would take hands-on lessons where I would drive with an instructor for 30 minutes, and then another student in the car would drive for the other half. One day I rode with this one chick who was absolutely terrible. She would hit curbs, unnecessarily speed up and slow down, and at one point she started driving in the opposite side of the road towards oncoming traffic. It was the scariest thing I've ever been through so much that I would walk out of the car shaking...but I liked her so much that I kept on signing up for classes with her.
