Good list, but yeah I found Isle of the Dead pretty dull on the whole - I have The Changeling on my rental list . . .

I just watched Drag Me To Hell. I've never seen Evil Dead or any of those so I can't really compare, but I thought it was pretty fucking funny.

Some random points about the plot that annoyed me though (very mild spoilers):
1. If she was still in doubt why didn't she immediately go to the hospital when she spewed out that shitload of blood?
2. All those fucking gypsys lived in that house and none of them could pull up enough cash together to pay the rent!?
3. I know the twist invalidates this, but she seriously couldn't find one asshole to give the envelope to?

Also, I felt bad about the ending...and gypsys are real fucking assholes, huh?

TAIMsikins, go rent Night of the Demon and see how much of the plot was lifted wholesale for that flick.

Still, I loved it.

Last week in the middle of the night, I watched The Omen remake with Liev Schreiber and Mia Farrow as the evil nanny. Yes, that's right, Mia Farrow as an evil nanny. David Thewlis was perfectly cast (loved him since Naked). It actually wasn't too bad but what's the point, really?

Yeah that's a pretty shit one - Liev Schreiber gave one of the dullest lead performances in recent memory, and they got it all wrong it getting the kid to act creepy - they didnt even bother to up the ante on the death scenes to satisfy the Final Destination crowd . . .

you got that right. that was a huge mistake. the evil, disfigured priest (totally unrealistic) was another huge mistake. the key to the original was "suspension of disbelief". i could deal with the overwrought Damien and his nanny in this film but when I saw that priest, the film jumped it's shark.

So because of my rate (Mass Communications, media, basically) I'm in charge of the ship's internal video, well, owing to Halloween it's been nothing but scary movies as I sit here on duty in Singapore. I'll bet Singapore's a scary place on Halloween, but I may never know.

Next up, 1408 and Texas Chainsaw II: Rise of the Machines.

(We only get a few good movies every month)

It's a lot of fun, although Romero's story isn't as good as Argento's. Granted, Argento was working with far more iconic source material, too.

Just finished watching Pumpkinhead. A fun little 80's horror flick. Plus it has Lance Henrickson so how can it be bad?

He's in most, if not all, of the four sequels to it, too.

I watched Vacancy (2007) last night, and it was very enjoyable. Definitely creepy, and I liked the fact that the movie didn't rely on gore to be scary.
