I have finally seen it.

My thoughts:

I was expecting weird, but very muddled and confused and, honestly, probably nothing great. Wayne has always been good with imagery, but I wasn't entirely sure he could actually put a story together for the screen.

Fortunately, and trepidation I may have had was entirely unwarranted, because I thought everything came together wonderfully... tons of weird imagery and strangeness without ever even coming close to incoherence.

Also, they spelled my name correctly in the credits, which pretty much makes my life.

... and, seriously, how ironic and hilarious is it that Wayne fucking Coyne played a character that never spoke?

Considering the chickenscratch I scrawled on that release form, I'm surprised they even got any of it right at all. Red Face

I'm over on the right side of the screen, the heavyish looking one who's kind of hunched over. I stayed for the second shot of the actual stomping, after most everybody had left the filming, so I got featured pretty prominently. I actually have a pretty pronounced and well-crafted vagina! I was on screen for maybe half a second. I was in the third row, last on the left.

I think this movie will be fantastic in the same way that Alejandro Jodoworsky's movies are. You don't watch it for the plot as much as the experience and weirdness of it all. I can't wait.. I only hope the nearby indie record store will have it on the 11th.

I loved the opening 5 minutes or so as it was exactly what I was expecting and hoping for. However I was suprised how bleak and meditative the film turned out to be as a whole. I kinda liked it but thought the acting and dialogue in places was a bit too clunky. I was also expecting it to burst into colour 'Wizard of Oz' style when Wayne appeared and for his character to be a bit more involved. However, now I've watched the extras and had some time to think about it I think I'll enjoy it a lot more next time around.

Anyone know how to find the hidden outtake scene on the DVD?

I thought of Alejandro's movies while watching this film. I mean, COM is so different than any Jodorowsky film so you can't really compare them, but you are right in saying the experience the viewer gets out of watching COM is similar to that of a Jodorowsky film. At least to me anyways.

My personal opinion of COM is that I enjoyed the weirdness of the film, and that the Flaming Lips starred in it, but to be honest everything else kinda just fell flat for me. I just couldn't get into the dialogue and acting.

The first time I saw C.O.M. was at Wakarusa.. it was the shit! I was wiggin nut's at the time.. but I've watched it like four times since then.. and it is amazing.. I could not be more impressed with the Lips.. I feel like it would be impossible.. but that's one of the many reasons why they are so great.. they always suprise me with more!
