HULL FILM TO HOLD SPECIAL XMAS SCREENING OF THE FLAMING LIPS FILM
‘CHRISTMAS ON MARS’*

Hull Film will be bringing the festive spirit to film fans with an extra
special Xmas screening designed to banish thoughts of family arguments,
leftover turkey and exciting presents that turn out to be socks. Yes,
Hull Film will transport you to another world by showing *CHRISTMAS ON
MARS: A Fantastical Film Freakout featuring The Flaming Lips,* a weird
and wonderful sci-fi musical created by cult band The Flaming Lips

The film does indeed take place during Christmas time on Mars, as the
colonization of the Red Planet is underway. But when an oxygen generator
and a gravity control pod malfunction, Major Syrtis (The Lips' Steven
Drozd) and his team (including the Lips' bassist Michael Ivins) fear for
the worst. Syrtis hallucinates about the birth of a baby, and many other
strange things. Meanwhile, a compassionate alien superbeing (Coyne)
arrives, inspiring and helping the isolated astronauts. Also appearing
in the film are the band's road drummer Kliph Scurlock, manager Scott
Booker, and many other familiar figures from The Lips' community.
Directed by Lips front man Wayne Coyne alongside co-director George
Salisbury (the band’s audiovisual technician), many of the film’s Mars
sets were constructed in Coyne’s back garden at his home in Oklahoma City.

in a Tate and Lyle Factory then you have to experience CHRISTMAS ON
MARS. A funny, weird and experimental delight, the film is not only a
must for fans of the band but also for all those who love their movies
to be just a little bit diifferent”

I wish I'd known about this before I spent £200 on getting to the London screening. Oh well. At least I still get to hear Wayne's introduction.

This is probably the best thing to happen to Hull in a long time. Actually, make that ever .

All jokes aside, I can't find anything about this on Google unless I quite specifically look for "Christmas on Mars, Hull." Does this mean that there might be a few other shows in the UK?
