Sasquatch! 2008 Lineup Revealed
The Cure! Modest Mouse! Death Cab! Flaming Lips! R.E.M.! M.I.A.! New Pornos! National! Beirut! Destroyer! Battles! Okkervil River! Malkmus! Built to Spill! Jamie Lidell! Breeders!
You'll have to forgive us if we go all exclamatory up in this newspiece right here. It's just that Sasquatch! has been sighted yet again in the vicinity of the Gorge in George, Washington, just south of Quincy and about halfway between Seattle and Spokane. Sasquatch!, people!

Authorities confronted Sasquatch! and were able to wrest a cryptic note from the creature before it vanished once again into the mist. The note reads as follows: "The Cure, Modest Mouse, Death Cab for Cutie, the Flaming Lips, R.E.M., M.I.A., the New Pornographers, Stephen Malkmus & the Jicks, Battles, the National, Beirut, Destroyer, Okkervil River, Built to Spill, Jamie Lidell, the Breeders, Fleet Foxes, White Rabbits, the Cave Singers, Tegan and Sara, Flight of the Conchords, the Kooks, the Hives, Grand Archives, Mates of State, Thao With the Get Down Stay Down, Rogue Wave, Sera Cahoone, David Bazan, the Little Ones, Kinski, Throw Me the Statue, the Shaky Hands," along with a few more assorted scribbles. Also, something about a comedy tent and the "premiere" of a Flaming Lips movie called Christmas on Mars...underlined in blood!!

What does this mean? Sasquatch!, what are you trying to tell us?!

Hmm, perhaps this is some kind of clue: "May 24, 25, and 26".

I'm guessing they'll be showings everywhere around that date. Fantastic news that it's almost here though - let's just hope they make it!

Is it 2005 already? Big Grin

Please let there be an east-coast screening, I'd be willing to drive almost anywhere on the east coast to see this thing.

The Flaming Lips' "CHRISTMAS ON MARS" Debuts at Sasquatch! along with exclusive U.F.O. performance

THE FLAMING LIPS have confirmed only a handful of live shows this Summer and current Intergalactic law dictates that their UFO only travels when the vibes are correct. While The Lips await Interstellar Time Travel Permits, the UFO has been scheduled to touch down only in Washington State. The long awaited, oft-mentioned psychological fantasy adventure flick, "CHRISTMAS ON MARS," will make its screen debut at this year's Sasquatch Festival, on Sunday, May 25. The following evening, the UFO will descend and The Lips will rock one of the country's most beautiful large open-air venues on Monday, May 26.

The Lips are in Birmingham the Sunday of Bonnaroo (Tennessee) and Christmas on Mars is screening at roo that weekend. What are the chances that the lips actually get added and play roo two years in a row....despite Kliph's previous denial?

Anybody been to the Gorge before?
Has anybody driven from an airport?
I can fly into Spokane or Seattle but I really don't fee like renting a car. I understand there is a bus but i can't seem to get schedule info.
I'll be with one other person but if anybody wants to meet in SEA or GEG to travel to the Gorge together (i can pay for gas food incidentals etc....) or (as always) if anybody needs help with a plane ticket let me know.

I am a Seattle resident. The Gorge is a magnificent live music venue, and totally worth the effort. However, to put it mildly, the Gorge is in the middle of nowhere, in central Washington. The festival is nowhere near the size of your Bonnaroos of the world, so there isn't a dedicated shuttle system or anything to the festival. Unfortunately, this is probably a case where the best scenario is biting the bullet and renting a car, especially if you can find other person(s) to split the cost. It's about a 3 hour trip from Seatac or Spokane, so I'd just go with the cheapest airfare. Good luck to you!

Thanks for th info. i fly for free so that isn't an issue. But i really didn't feel like paying for a car for three or four days
(or driving for that matter...I hate driving....)

if anybody wants to consider splitting a car or will drive for a cheap plane tkt let me know. (plane tkt doesn't have to be to this event...can be almost anywhere in NA or Europe...)

I posted this question in the Sasquatch thread also...

Does anyone know how the film will be screened? In a tent? On the main stage?

I'm wondering if there will be some sort of capacity issues.

Thanks!
