Does anyone know if this is a "proper" Lips gig, or a 45 minute festival type appearance ? I don't mind stumping up for flights / hotel for the real deal, but....

It appears to be a new festival, but they are the headliners, for what it's worth.

As I understood it, it's not so much a festival as a series of gigs under a "brand" name. I saw them in Cork last year, which was part of the Live at the Marquee festival, and they played a full show.

Can't wait!

We traveled the whole way down to cork to see em last year from belfast. Life changing gig. I don't hope, I know that this will be just as good. Although Lips in a circus tent may be hard to beat!

I bought three tickets in early May, and still haven't got them in the mail. Thia makes me nervous, since I am american and traveling abroad in about three weeks, and still haven't received any tickets or even a reply from the Belsonic people about shipping of the tickets. I have sent so many emails and no one has even responded. Anyone else actually get their tickets in the mail?

Oh! And we are staying at a hostel in Belfast the night before the show and the night of the show, but we arrive in Dublin about three days before the show. Anyone want to hang out with some American Lips fans? Bonus points if you let us stay with you! We are two guys and one gal between the ages of 20-23, very nice and fun loving...and can even pay you for letting us stay. Even if you don't have a place to stay, we want to hang out with some lips fans in Dublin and Belfast. Let me know! Thanks.

Just over a month to go and I'm like a rabid dog waiting for this gig. This will be my 3rd Lips gig - supporting (showing up) Bob Dylan in Kilkenny and Vicar Street, Dublin in Nov 2006 (we still have our lasers).

I'm fairly certain it's outdoors.

Belsonic sent an email around this week about confirming postcodes/addresses so they can send the tickets out - I logged onto the website but couldn't find the section to do this. Will try again today.

Yes I think I'll dress up - promised the wife we would try and see if we can get up on stage this time. Though even if it doesn't work out I'm still confident it will be an amazing gig!

spencertomato - if we can both get the day off work we'd meet up with you for a few drinks before the gig!

I'm looking for a boiler suit/overalls kinda deal to wear to this, like the one Steven wears in U.F.O.s at the Zoo. A furry costume would be best, but I can't afford it!

And hasn't it been said that they can't get the U.F.O. out of America? Bummer...

Steven's silver jumpsuit is here (he confirmed where he got it from in an interview I read at some point - can't remember where):

I thought a very similiar thing when I found that... that you might as well insert Steven in the little form it shows it on because it looks like it's busy rocking out already!!!

Well, if you know anyone crafty that you can bribe you might get them to make you something... I sucked up to my mom and she made me & my husband our furry costumes we wore to New Year's.

Dickies make relatively cheap boiler suits, like the ones you see on building sites. I'll look for one of them.

Were the furry costumes good? Pictures?

Would work well with latest lips appearances - seem to have the guys lowering the ufo and the ball into the crowd dressed in boiler suits, high viz vests and hard hats!

Since we are traveling into Belfast the night before the show, does anyone have any recommendations on things to do or pubs to go to? And would anyone like to meet up the day of the show before to have a few drinks?

My mom is awesome.

"ooo mommy, I know I'm a grown up and all, but would you please make me & doug some neat costumes for the Flaming Lips???"

All she did was roll her eyes because she knew she was gonna do it for me.
