Just wondering if the UFO was permitted to make an appearance at this festival. And if so could i be one of the aliens or santa claus on board. I saw the Lips in the Gorge 2006 and i really would be a good santa...anyways does neone know how this may work.

waiting for the lips to land in Canada!

Dean.

Any idea which day the Flips are playing Pemberton? I know they have only released three-day passes... but there is really only one band I want to see.

I'd probably make an excuse not to go but it is three hours from my door and in my country... so I may very well pay $300 for one short(likely not UFO) Flaming Lips set - totally worth it!

The Lips are playing Saturday, July 26, presumably before Tom Petty and the Tragically Hip.

Thanks! Now I just need to swindle a single day pass... maybe I could hop on the back of the Flaming Lips truck when it goes in the gate!

Are any fans from the States making the trip for that festival?

is Pemberton likely not going to be a UFO show because they are not headlining it? I saw the UFO show in Sasquatch 06 and it blew my mind. I hope they bring out the big guns to canada.

Sasquatch '06 was not a ufo show... my guess would be no on Pemberton because it's hard enough to get in to Canada without it, but that's just a guess.

As to the original question, check out the FAQ in general lips. It comes up a lot.

I'm kind of thinking about going to this festival, but I need some information if anyone knows. I've been getting conflicting stories about whether or not one needs a passport to go to Canada from the US. The story I hear most often is "yes" if you're flying, "no" if you're driving. But most of those people have never actually been to Canada so they really have no idea what they're talking about.

I was in Canada last September, driving, I was able to go with my birth certificate and marriage license, and driver's license then. I don't think it's changed but the place I read it seemed clear at the time, I'll find it.

yep, land and sea don't need, air you do

It's great that you are thinking about coming up for this show!

I just recently got my passport for a road trip from Vancouver to Vegas. While in the Canadian government office applying for the passport I read some information confirming that a birth certificate is enough to drive across the border, for now.

I'd hate to risk it if I had already purchased the tickets though! You might have time to rush order a passport if you hit-up the right office.

Good Luck! Let me know if you need any tips on where to eat, sleep, etc when in the area.

Thanks for the info! I think I'm gonna go ahead and get a passport anyway so I'll have one before they start putting those microchips or whatever in them. Still don't know if I'm going, but I'll be sure to ask if I need any more information.

This festival has got me kind-a down... its a matter of hours from my door, in my home town basically, and the Lips are playing. But the price of tickets and the camping AND the parking/shuttle fee... meaning no booze or cars at the campgrounds?!? Being my home turf I was hoping to fill my trunk with enough intoxicants for everyone on this message board... but not if there is a search before the shuttle, before the camping.

So I would need to spend almost a grand for my partner and I to see the Lips play and be forced to drink and eat at festival prices for three days...

Not sure the Hip and Tom Petty are enough to sweeten that deal.

I'm thinking of hitting the 10KL Fest instead...

I am guessing that it will still be light out. What is a Lips show like in the day light?

I was at the show in Gainesville, FL April 15th, 2007. During the soundcheck, which was before sunset, I think they checked Wayne's mic-camera, and I remember the projection to be visible.

Still wish I could be there... but can't justify the cost given other factors in my life. (miracles anyone? hehe...)

Anyone coming from out of town? If so, let me know if you need any sort of hook-up, and I will do my best to make things happen for you while you are around Vancouver.
