This list had been buried in the dead "Festivals This Summer" thread, but since we have our first confirmation of a fall show, the Motorokr Festival October 18 in Mexico City, I thought I would resurrect it as a way to keep information clear and organized about 2008 Flaming Lips shows and "Christmas on Mars" screenings.

I will update the list at first confirmation of any other potential 2008 dates, "Christmas on Mars" screenings, or New Year's Eve information. Q: Is ______ going to be a UFO show?
A: Only Sasquatch has been announced to be a UFO show. According to the festival's advertisement and a recent Warner Bros. press release, it seems likely that it will be the only UFO show among the summer/fall dates.

Q: How can I dance on stage during the Lips show?
A: A member of the Lips' crew with the title of the "Animal Wrangler" is in charge of selecting a limited number of people to dance on stage (currently as Teletubbies) at each Lips concert. He does not read or post on this messageboard. Kliph does not have influence or tips on getting people selected to dance, so please do not bother him in the "Ask Kliph" thread about it. If you are randomly lucky to talk to the Wrangler before the show, you may have a chance of being selected to dance. There is a myth that getting to a show extremely early is the way to get on stage. From experience, I can say that this only happens in very rare cases. Most dancers are picked by hanging out near the back of the venue either before the show or during the opening band, so it is more a matter of being in the "right place at the right time" than having any inside information. Good luck.

Q: What's this I heard about naked dancers?
A: At Summercamp, Jam on the River, Sasquatch!, Virgin Festival Calgary, Wakarusa, and 10,000 Lakes the end of the Lips' cover of Led Zeppelin's "The Song Remains the Same" featured several nude women who volunteered to dance on stage in a non-sexual manner. Due to potential complications of doing this at all-ages venues, the nude dancing has been limited to select festivals.

Q: Where/when/how can I see "Christmas on Mars?"
A: As of now, only Sasquatch!, Bonnaroo, deadCENTER, and Wakarusa were promoted to feature the film. In addition, it made unannounced appearances at 10,000 Lakes Festival and at Lollapalooza. The Lips have built their own tent to show the movie in, so at least at these festivals, it will not be a stage act. The tent holds approximately 200-250 people per screening. A free ticket is required to see the film and these tickets are typically distributed by the Lips crew a couple of hours before each screening. It appears unlikely that the Lips will take the tent setup to overseas festivals. The recent Warner Bros. press release says to stay tuned for information on any further screenings. In recent posts, Kliph stated that the current plan for commercial release is mid-October. There will be a standalone DVD and a special edition that includes both the DVD and soundtrack CD. There is a chance for a CoM themed tour post-Thanksgiving, but nothing is definite yet.

Q: Is there information on the Lips' Halloween parade or big New Year's Eve show?
A: The Flaming Lips will return to Oklahoma City's Halloween parade this year on Saturday, October 25. Those who have talked to Wayne following Lips shows this summer have reported that he is eager to repeat last year's NYE setup of playing at the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City, but this is not official and should be treated as a rumor at the present time.

I really enjoyed clicking thru all the festie sites, seeing all the weird line ups the lips got themselves part of....and then seeing what slots they got....fascinating....I also was comparing/ contrasting the different design styles of the pages....loved the incredible efficiency and sparseness of the German page!
