Anyone else really hope the lips get back on the good echo vibes?

Echo project was the fucking best festival last year, and they had the best flaming lips set . . . i mean come on they played riding to work in 2025.

They aren't announcing the lineup yet, but I have been waiting and waiting. It's rare the lips pull a festie back to back . . . but I really hope they do that with this one. The first year was so awesome.

However I would be happy if they just spent the October - December months just on tour.

Hopefully there won't be any Disco Biscuits sets at this one.

I look forward to eating as much LSD as my money can buy.

I'm going to be bummed if they don't do it this year, it was such a great time. This sounds nuts, but it was a pretty intimate festival, as far as fests go.

*edit* Have they even confirmed that they're doing it this year? Seems like they should announce the lineup soon, no?

First year was a big hit. I keep getting emails from them for varies things. They are doing it this year for sure.

But yes, they should of announced something officially and they havn't yet.

I disagree with that bisco statement above. They played really well that night, and that bassnectar set in between was just straight fucking ill.

My only complaints are ---

No more thieves (I knew some people who had stuff stolen at their campground)

Not so terribly cold (but I will be ready this time)

Bassnectar was outstanding. My friend had overdone it Friday night and started having a really bad time during the Disco Biscuits, so that kind of killed the show for me.

That's awful about people getting robbed. So lame. I spoke with a few of the security guys and a couple of them had just taken a bunch of mushrooms, so that was a bit disconcerting.

And, yes, I will definitely pack more than one hoodie this time!

not to be a let down, but Lips never seem to repeat the same event.

I would love to be wrong here, b/c I loved Echo and the Lips made the fest the best 2007 had to offer...so PLEASE come back if possible.

I will be there given a good line up....baby and all.

i've heard mixed notions of whether or not there will be an echo project this year.

they do have a contract for the space that lasts 10 years, but they also lost money at last year's festival.

i'm guessing there will be another festival, but the names will not be as big.

Well, Bonnaroo was 12000-15000 off last years attendance.

Wakarusa was even smaller this year than last.

Rothbury is new and I've heard from other people who have been to other events at the site that they way overcharge and then do a pretty shitty job of running a festival.

City Stages saw a moderate increase in attendance, or so I've heard.

10klf might be pretty big, but I think initial ticket sales are down, they were selling tickets for $100 at waka and had few takers.

A lack of Car Camping will keep All Good pretty small for the most part, IMO.

Seems like a down year for american festivals.

I think gas prices might have something to do with that.

Didn't the landowners around the farm that it was on try to sue the organizers of Echo for violating noise ordinances or something last year?

I'm not sure about that.

But another thing I hated from last year was if you arrived to the festival on Thursday they made you pay extra.

I drove there with one other person in my car,
and they charged me $20 for getting there a day early? (even though bands there playing that day, and it said nothing about this charge on the website)

And then they tacked on another $10 to the $20, making it $30. The $10 was for "carpools under 3 people".

Needless to say, I thought they were trying to scam me when I came in so I didn't give them the money. Then I realized how serious they were and I had to cough up $30 = /

I've never had to do anything like that before at any music festies.

I really hope you're right Sugaree. The Echo Project was the best fest I have ever been to. Not to mention it was my first Lips experience. All I can say is that will never be the same. I mean that in the best way possible. I check the echo myspace and website daily but have not heard anything. What are the e-mails from echo about??

2009!? damn, that sucks. and it was the perfect size. the only 2 things i would change would be to allow fires or at least have a community bonfire and to keep the 'centeroo' area open all night. besides those 2 small requests i would like filled, it was the most perfect 4 days ever Big Grin

i e-mailed meatcamp productions...

still waiting on a response Mad

what shall i replace echo with this year?? hmm..

Bearcreek is awesome!

Spirit of Suwanee,
is a narcfest though.

Be really careful.

If anyone plans on going, I live about 1 hour away from Live Oak.

Let me know if you need a place to stay or meet up. I will be going for 100%.
