Is anyone actually going to this?

I might be getting a press pass which may result in me being able to conduct an interview/ask a few questions depending on time and whether I don't just turn silent in the bands presence like I did last time...

But yeah either way anyone going? If not I would appreciate if we could perhaps brainstorm some questions, I already have about thirty written down haha, but I thought who better to discuss with than awesome internet fanz Smile

I was gonna go, but then they announced the show in Belfast - much easier. There weren't any more bands playing at Lovebox I would've like to see that much.

What questions have you got so far?

I've always wanted to know more about the gear Michael uses live - what keyboard, amp, effects, etc. There's loads of stuff about Steven's gear on different sites, but not so much about Michael. But I guess that's just coming from a music geek's point of view.

I'm going! Really looking forward to it. To me, the line-up looks great. My tickets still haven't arrived yet though, anyone received theirs?

Lucky you on maybe scoring the chance of an interview. I'd probably go a bit silent in the band's presence too, so I don't really have any questions to suggest. Sure you'll come up with something...

ten days to go, and I aint had my three tickets I paid for in January.

I've been on to Lovebox, but it seems a bit chaotic.

They better arrive!

Did you order from Ticketmaster Paul? My friend did and got his within a week... might want to ring them.

I'm goin' to this, my first Lips live show Big Grin. I hope they play something from Zaireeka.

Yeah, Paul, I kind of share your worries.

I ordered my tickets in April and they've still not arrived.

I've rang up Ticketmaster [who I ordered with] and the lines were shut so all that was left was an automated voice saying that tickets had been posted ten days ago. However I just signed on to Ticketmaster and it said "tickets are being prepared for dispatch".

I'm very confused. I'm gonna be ringing them first thing in the morning so I'll report back.

Nah, ordered direct from the site in January (prior to general release).

NO worries - arrived yesterday, but I did need to chase Lovebox direct - email details on the website - they were very helpful.

Seasoned lips fans going, but also my son - his first time seeing em live!

I think there is more chance of Ronald and Jonathan joining them on stage....

Oh I wouldn't say that. Something for everyone.

I'm kinda looking forward to Goldfrapp - heard she does a great live show.

Manu Chao and Groove Armada will do decent shows. Roni Size, Go Team, Sean Kuti interest me also. And... Hayseed Dixie!

Meant to be a lovely location, great friendly atmosphere too.

I'm most interested in how long the Lips will be on for, and whether to expect another typical set list, or some surprises. I hear that the ball will be with us (though not the UFO), and stage dancers as teletubbies...

So long as there's balloons and streamers, I'm happy. As I say above, taking my 12 year old son to his first Lips concert - so whatever the line up, for £35 I'm gonna be pretty happy on his behalf regardless.

Oh I wouldn't say that, they've played 2025 live recently... although it's still unlikely they'll play it here. I can dream.

Should be a good festival anyway, never heard of a lot of the lineup but hopefully i'll find something new and good there.

Set times up by the way, Flips are at 8:15pm on main stage.

really on that early? They are last on stage, so that bodes well for a good set length.

do you have any other running times?

All the stage times have been posted on the Lovebox website. I think the Lips will get two hours max probably. It doesn't say what time their set finishes but apparently the gates close at 10pm on Sunday...

£65 per ticket for a VIP area upgrade - if thats your thing...

Seen running times now - everything clashes!! (unsurprising).

Looking forward to Roni Size and Sean Kuti though.

Final headcount for who is going to this?

Are we going to see a good contingent of Lips fans, or is the crowd going to be made up of those who went to see Goldfrapp, and then hung around saying "what the hell??"

Haha, I don't think so. I think it's the other way round. Like at Sasquatch, the Mars Volta were under the Flaming Lips, most people went to see the Lips and therefore were pretty "wtf" about TMV.

I'm going. Will be arriving at 1-1:30 HOPEFULLY. I have to collect my tickets at the gates. I hope it all goes smoothly. But I'm coming from Latitude so I'll probably be quite euphoric, maybe a tad hungover! I can't wait. I've not see the Lips since 06 and so I'm hyped. Goldfrapp should be good too, White Lies perhaps. And that NYC Downlow stage looks awesome.

Im going, about to make my way there for the Saturday. Thanks for the heads up about set times.
Apart from the Flips, looking forward to checking out Youngblood Brassband (RATM/electric/'Yorkshire community brass bands') which sounds better than that description.
See you at the front!
