I really really do I promise, but what on earth is going on with the voting here? It's almost entirely train noises and banjo. It's 3 lines long. Where is this coming from??? It's not meant to be a hate thread, I just don't understand. Please help me.

People are voting for their favorite songs which they probably have never heard live before. I asked Kliph once if it would ever be played and his response was essentially, "probably not." Unless it it played as a result of this voting, it will probably never get played live.

Except for the guitar. And drums. And organ. And other noises.

I don't know. It's quiet, but sort of intense. The sort of song that leaves me in a daze until I hit the rewind button to hear it again. I like the drumming a lot. The sort of timing or whatever where it's like the next beat is a little late, but still concerted and everything is like rightthere is pretty interesting.

Always seems like it would be tough to play really well live, but I'm sure they could pull it off.

Also, it's pretty much the first real song I'm learning to play on Banjo.

I think it would be amazing live. It's not quite like any of their other stuff- it's like they almost took a different direction for AWWTM, and Enthusiasm for life... is what that would have sounded like.
Which is why it would be so special to hear it live Smile

Really?

I have always loved that song since the first time I heard it.....and did what so many people do: went to try and find the album it was on...

It is such a cozy little song, with Wayne assuring us that no matter how scary and bad it may feel like......it it too shall pass, the sun will rise again...

The banjo solo is sublime....(may need to be back tracked??) Can SD rip on the banjo too??

I think it would work perfect as a first encore......

And I remember all the talk: it will never be played......etc...

I think it represents the ultimate fan choice> band gift.

Vote!

What are your top 5 Kristen?

Sorry to piggyback on your thread, Kristen, but I'm more concerned about people throwing away their votes on songs the Lips have no chance of playing. I'd love to hear "Redneck School of Technology" but I sure as heck didn't vote for it. There are just too many good songs.

Do you think they wouldn't play "Enthusiasm for life" live?

Actually I think there is a good possibility it can make it into their set if they really leave song additions up to us. What I meant by me "piggybacking" was taking her thread about a certain concern: Kristen not being too jazzed about EFL; and using it to air my concern: people throwing their votes away on songs that would receive a few votes at best. Like, someone voted for "Goin' On" which is a song I absolutely love, but there's no way "Goin' On" is goin' to receive enough votes for it to be permanently added to their new setlist.

I mean, I honestly don't want to tell people what do with their picks. Their picks are special and mean something to them. Uhhh...OK. I am a perfect example! I picked "God Walks Among Us Now." I would probably shit, cum, and pee all at the same time if they played this...so yesterday I voted for it. Now I am regretting that pick because I'm pretty sure "God Walks Among Us Now" would receive something, like, ten votes at best. Even if it does receieve more it won't even touch the amount of votes songs like "Enthusiasm For Life Defeats Internal, Existential Fear" or even "Frogs" will get. (At this time I would like to say "Frogs" looks like a strong contender and I could not be more goddamn excited). Basically, as much as I love "God Walks Among Us Now" I am regretting the choice.

Sorry for the long-winded explanation.

Are Uncle Mikey through Indigo_Montoya the same person? They just changed their third pick each time.

I counted them in that tally for the time being.

Regardless, it would be really sad if it turned into an alias contest. Frown

WAT.

And Uncle Mikey mad his post, then the other 4 or whatever posted their requests and nothing else, and a minute after Indigo_Montoya posted, Mikey was posting again...

emp: I am pretty sure Kliph hasn't begun the official tally, you can go edit your vote....I did, within minutes of posting. And I know what you mean about "throwing away" votes....I was trying not to read other's picks, and choose my own desires...

But now I feel my vote for Sunship Balloons was a throw away.....but it remains an awesome song....

Are people not familiar with Placebo Headwound? Wink

Yeah. I just saw it. I'm not sure if he was trying to be funny or really trying to get away with it, but whatever the reason it's unfair and not cool in the spirit that the thread was intended.

Be a dude, Mikey, and delete the aliases posts.

kind: I think I'm going to stick with my picks. I already feel like a dork having had to go back and edit because I accidentally picked six songs. Besides I noticed a few people pick "God Walks Among Us Now" so it might have a chance.

I would honestly be thrilled to hear just about anything that has been mentioned so far.

Sorry, Kristen. I believe firmly that "Enthusiasm For Life" rivals only a few others -- maybe "You Have To Be Joking (Autopsy of the Devil's Brain)," "Do You Realize??," and "Feeling Yourself Disintegrate" -- as the Lips' most beautiful song.

I first heart it at the end of The Fearless Freaks; I was astonished at how affecting yet so simple a Lips song could be.

Emp: You make a good point, I realize now. My vote for "Maximum Dream for Evil Knievel," though 100% sincere, is like Ralph Nader in 2000.
