1. Felt - "Crumbling The Antiseptic Beauty" never gets old.

2. The Birthday Party/Nick Cave - The transition from junkie to preacher is quite astounding. "Junkyard" and "No More Shall We Part" are must haves.

3. John Zornand his various nomenclature - Masada/Naked City/Painkillers, etc. - Jazz that's not for everyone, but this guy is mad with genius I promise.

4. Diamanda Galas - multiple octave voice that will make your neighbors move out and your grass die - "You Must Be Certain Of The Devil" and "The Sporting Life" w/ John Paul Jones of Led Zep fame are probably the most accessible.

5. David Bowie - if you don't have Ziggy Stardust or Aladdin Sane kill yourself.

6. Roxy Music/Bryan Ferry - the first 2 Roxy albums for sure. "Beauty Queen" is what i sing in the shower. Ferry's include just for his "Let's Stick Together" solo effort.

7. The Kinks - "Village Green". 'nuff said.

8. Butthole Surfers - I'm from Texas. When you bought acid in the 80's you got a free copy of "Locust Abortion Technician" or "Psychic,Powerless...Another Man's Sac" w/ purchase.

9. The Fall - avant and pop had a baby-ahhhh.

10. Fuckemos - think punk marching band on rohypnol. don't sleep on your stomach around these guys.

11. Tindersticks - Stuart Staples has a voice like the bottom end a bottomless chasm.

12. The Melvins - what can you say about Buzzo other than he is a god.

13. KK Null/Zeni Geva - listen and find out.

14. Big Black/Rapeman/Shellac - just because Albini is such a glorious asshole.

15. Guided By Voices/Pollard/etc. - I like at least 50% of Bob's 50,000 songs.

16. Roky Erickson/13th Floor Elevators - it's nice he's come out of his electro-shock stupor and started touring again.

17. The Red Krayola - w/out Roky you'd have no Mayo.

Fuckemos are opening for the Buttholes this September in Austin at Stubbs!

Hopefully a big rousing rendition of "80 Gay Sailors" is in order!!!! I went to their first reunion show a year or so ago at some little dive on the eastside of town...good show even with the sound being a little iffy at times.
