If you're gonna do that, add the other songs that Steven & Michael helped him on too from his pretty damned good album "Songs for Dustmites". I used to have the album but it's been lost. So I have to go by memory of what Steven, Michael and Dave contributed to... I know for sure they also played/helped on "What I Do On A Saturday" and "Troposphere" and I think they might have played on "Maintain" too. I seem to remember the Flaming Lipsy tracks were on the first half of the album (the best songs, honesetly), and his older Radiohead-esque stuff was the second half of the album (the average songs). Google it and see if you can find a breakdown of what tracks they played on. I will say "Troposphere" is a fucking great song, and is worth the price of the CD alone. It's one of those epic songs that builds to a great chorus. The bassline and drums are total Drozd awesomeness. Check it out. |

If your goal is to collect all the offially released non-album tracks, then here's some corrections... Sorry if you already know this... Hell's Angel Cracker Factory (long version) is on Telepathic, so I wouldn't include it (just becxasue they had to edit it on Acid...). Or do you mean the edit from An Enthusiasm For Recording By Amateurs? Devine Hammer & Pennyroyal Tea... I don't believe these were officially released, so I would exclude them or at leats put them on a different collection of live covers... I noticed you have the Machine In India edit... Then I would also include the band mixes of OK I Admit (there are two different ones!), Big 'Ol Bug, Driving to Work and 35000 Ft of Dispair. Some of the Yoshimi B-sides were not actually Yoshimi outtakes, they were recorded post-Yoshimi to be B-sides (Sunship, Fly, Assassination, etc.). Don't mean to nitpick, I thought this might help. |

Thanks for the ideas.
I guess I'm not nec. trying to get all the official releases. Some of those remixes are taxing on my ears... I've made my own Zaireeka Stereo Mix (for easier travel purposes & ipod listening) so I left off the stereo versions of zaireeka. I also while I like the Okay alternate, I guess I didn't think it was a big enough difference...but maybe I need to track that one down again and give it another listen. I added the Hell's Angels Extended Version because I traded my old restless era copies for the ACID & EGG Collections...wishing I'd kept the original restless era cds because Summertime Blues isn't on those 5 discs and Hell's Angels is just an edited 3 minute version like the 1984-1990 Amateur's Compilation. Maybe I don't need the 22 minute version of it, but I remember reading that it was basically the original idea for Telepathic Surgery so I included it. Plus I sort of miss the original artwork of (especially) Oh My Gawd. I'd thot about dividing them up into live, radio sessions & official b-sides & soundtracks but sort of liked the flow of it more chronologically...at least to the best I could do and fit the 80 minute max. Some stuff I shifted around just because it fit better in one place or I had extra space, but it would've broken up another group of tracks. I did notice another track on my 5.1 of At War called Your Face Can... which I'll have to track down. Thanks for the info on Sunship, Assassination etc. I thot I remember hearing that those were new tracks they wrote after Yoshimi...but just sort of lumped them in with the rest. Thanks for the feedback! |

Ah. OK, then it matters little.
Yeah, to me Telepathic ain't Telepathic without the 20-minute Hell's Angel's Cracker Factory! |

yeah, that 20 minute version was essential to Telepathic and it disappointed me when I was listenin to Finally the Punk Rockers and realized it was over at 3minutes. One of these days I'll repurchase the old restless albums. Wish they'd made each album the same as originally released with the bonus tracks, ep tracks etc on a 2nd disc...that way preserving the 20 minute version of HACF.

You know what's really weird? I REALLY like the "1984-1990: An Enthusiasm for Recording by Amateurs" compilation. A LOT. I got it right when it came out in '98 (that's when I got into the Lips), and aside form In A Priest Driven Ambulance, was my only exposure to the Restless years for the longest time. I just assume listen to that comp than ACID. It's odd...

That was a good comp!
I sort of wish I could track down the Shambolic Comp that is sorta the same, but different. Just a very weird compilation of their tracks...not nec. the best of the restless years, but a fun disc to listen to. |

Shambolic... That was just the 1-disc promo for ACID. Meh, you can make your own from the tracks on ACID.
I answered your Bad Days question on the new board. |

How come they've kept this board going...and the new one? Is there a need for both? |

The original album did not have Hell's Angel Cracker Factory or Begs and Achin. These were on the CD. They are outtakes. Must also add What's So Funny Bout Peace Love and Understanding/Strychnine and Drug Machine |
