Yea, they definitely tore a page from Black Moth Super Rainbows playbook on that song.

Based on how the Lips have evolved from day one to where we are now... I bet we can expect to see something along the lines of the Yoshimi album. Heavy reliance on atmospheric sfx, with the usual few catchy songs like WAND and It Overtakes Me. They are always evolving in some way though. They seem to keep it somewhat familiar, while pushing the limits and evolving. Thats what makes these guys amazing.

I would LOVE to see them throw in some more of their punk roots in with that kind of guitar work. Just imagine some of those bad ass early punk guitar riffs they would play like in their first album, but only with strange SFX added to the guitar sound. That would be great to hear some of that "early aggression" in their music like back in the days when they would light the drum symbols on fire and play. RESTORE THE INSANTY! lol.

Either way, I'm sure I will love it.

Ok, so it looks like it's coming out December 29th.

I shall remain optimistic about this date.

Thats why I LOVE this band.

Yeah maybe I'm losing it but the Lips put out a press release on monday with no date in it, so I'm not sure why anyone is trying to call it just yet. I think this is yet another case of lazy reporting where someone saw a placeholder date on one site and a few other people copied it, all the way to Entertainment Weekly and now it's fact.
