Quick Live Report. Our boys did a great job, and I really think captured the "spirit" of the occassion more than any other tribute band. The Lips played the exact same set as the rehearsal video posted at the beginning of the thread. They covered the Tommy songs extremely well and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves; Steven rocked out and Michael and Kliph were dressed for the occassion in the skeleton suit and a Mod t-shirt, respectively. Rainn Wilson gave a great introduction for the band dressed a la Elton John's pinball wizard character in the Tommy movie. Wayne came out in the bubble while the others played Sparks. The new rainbow lights surrounding the gong were a fun visual addition. I wouldn't expect any of their set to be edited from the broadcast, as it all ran together. The best and most surprising part was Kliph being a badass and breaking apart his drum kit a la Keith Moon at the end of the medley.
All in all a pretty good night. Aside from the Lips, Pearl Jam also paid fantastic tribute to The Who - they really nailed their songs, and Tenacious D had a good take on Squeeze Box. Foo Fighters and Incubus were pretty blah to me. The Who played loud and fairly well, though technical difficulties with Pete's guitar setup flared up on a few songs. No "all-star" version of any songs in The Who's set, surprisingly - they played themselves all the way through. Setlists follow.
Flaming Lips Sparks (with bubble) -> Christmas (Tommy Can You Hear Me/See Me, Feel Me part) -> Pinball Wizard -> I'm Free -> See Me, Feel Me
Pearl Jam Love Reign O'er Me The Real Me
Tenacious D Squeeze Box
Foo Fighters Young Man Blues Bargain
*** No visible fisticuffs between Kliph and Dave Grohl
Incubus I Can See For Miles I Can't Explain
The Who Baba O'Riley The Seeker Who Are You Behind Blue Eyes 2000 Years You Better You Bet My Generation Won't Get Fooled Again Tea and Theatre

Thanks for the report, JJ. That sounds awesome. Rainn Wilson! I just hope I get to see it on TV here in the UK.

Great report! Thank you! This event is being pretty well-publicized. I've had many a friend approach me saying "Hey did you know that..." so I'm glad to see that many people will be paying attention to this.
No Slip Kid. Maybe in the fall, if Roger wants to resurrect it enough.
