True. i wouldn't normally consider a covers album a studio album so much as anything but a compilation, so i suppose that's what this could be considered.

If they recorded the different songs over a long period of time and just pieced them together, it would be a compilation. But since they went into the studio with the intention of remaking Dark Side, it counts as a studio album.

It's an interesting question. Exactly what qualifies or disqualifies something as a studio album?

This does seem to be just a little side-project, not a proper album the way that the rest of their albums are.

But on the other hand it's a full-length studio recording. Just because the whole thing was written by somebody else, should that disqualify it? Plenty of other artists record albums of songs written by other people--sometimes even written by a single person. Those are always treated as studio albums.

It's interesting to me that this is regarded as a studio album yet the Christmas on Mars soundtrack is not.

When I originally wrote the article on Wikipedia. I said it was the fourteenth album. You're right that it's bullshit.

I mean like whats so great about it.

I love the song brain damage. its beautiful and haunting.

but the other songs seem boring to me. what am I missing?

it's aesthetically pleasing to a more vast majority than any of the other floyd albums.

I prefer Animals and The Wall to Dark Side, but i've got to place that as my #3 Floyd album. i think just because it's vastly intricate with all the little noises and subliminal messages included, and i guess a lot of people like that. Sure, there's a lot more in plenty better albums, but this one just kinda hits the public, in my assumption.

Drugs.

It's not intended to be considered one of the "main" albums in the Lips catalog. Besides, it's a collaboration with Stardeath & White Dwarfs.
