No way. I find this hard to believe... I bet even if someone boasted of not having a computer... they hid it in the closet when company come or something. There are HUTS in THIRD WORLD COUNTRIES with computers.

C'mon.

You mean when he has to have magical Google searches that result in ground breaking ideas (::bubble:Smile... he has to go over to someone else's house to do it or something???
I think that there's just something so cool about the fact that Wayne doesn't own a computer. How he is the epitome of everything that we consider badass, and here we are, marveling over him on some stupid machine that he is too godly to even own.

I have a quick question. Is "1,000 Foot Hands", on an album, aside from the Soft Bulletin Companion (I have this on my computer, but SQL is not great but not poor either)?

Q: That Blue's Clues Guy, I Thought he was dead?????
quote:

A: No, there was a rumor he OD'd on crack or some shit. He quit doing Blues Clues because it wasn't getting him anywhere...go figure. He has a website www.steveswebpage.com and an album or two. Sounds good, especially when you imagine him singing to you enthusiastically like on a kids show.

yeah guys- you need to find some kind of DVD ripping software that will allow you to just lift off audio... like imtoo audio ripper or smart ripper
some of these applications will let you rip directly to mp3, but if not then you may have to convert it. just google it. it's easy, hell, even i did it!

That (great) song is called "With You" and it is the first track on the "Hear It Is" album.

You can find "Hear It Is" on the "Finally the Punk Rockers Are Taking Acid" set, which has their debut EP, first three albums, and a ton of bonus material.

Q: How can I dance on stage during the Lips show?
A: A member of the Lips' crew with the title of the "Animal Wrangler" is in charge of selecting a limited number of people to dance on stage at each Lips concert. He does not read or post on this messageboard. There is a Myspace Profile set up for the position, for what it's worth. Kliph does not have influence or tips on getting people selected to dance, so please do not bother him in the "Ask Kliph" thread about it. If you are randomly lucky to talk to the Wrangler before the show, you may have a chance of being selected to dance. There is a myth that getting to a show extremely early is the way to get on stage. From experience, I can say that this only happens in very rare cases. Most dancers are picked by hanging out near the back of the venue either before the show or during the opening band, so it is more a matter of being in the "right place at the right time" than having any inside information. Good luck.

I would say this info is out of date for the new Animal Wrangler. Can someone give input to that?

From going to the the first nine (non-Camel - I understand Camel reps had a big influence on picking those who danced at those shows) dates on the fall tour, I can say it's accurate. I was at or near the front of the line for every one of those shows, and people were not being picked from the line or from the front rail before a show; people either successfully seek him out before the show or happen to be hanging out in the right place while he's looking for dancers to be picked. By and large, the method is still the same as before.

I got picked to dance for the first time last August in San Diego by seeking him out at the Soco Festival behind the crowd at the mainstage and because he recognized me from the DVD.

The current person does not publicly post on the messageboard, nor does Kliph have any tips, same deal as before. The Myspace is probably outdated, but it has been logged into many times (most recently in January) since the former Animal Wrangler vacated the position, so it was included for posterity with the disclaimer, "for what it's worth." I don't think it'd be appropriate to post a real name and/or personal Myspace account (if he has one) that would allow him to be badgered.

Does anyone know what the music is on the menu screen of the Fearless Freaks DVD bonus disc; a slow number that sounds like a banjo?

I haven't watched the DVD in ages, but I think it's 'Enthusiasm For Life Defeats Internal, Existential Fear'. It's either that, or 'Smokin' a J With The Fearless Freaks'. You can get both of 'em from the box!

Q: Where did the name "The Flaming Lips" Originate.
I had this bizarre thought process that ended with me thinking the Flaming Lips was an analogy for the mouth of god...
So, I've been looking for a naming the band anecdote and can't find one. Does anyone know the story behind the name?

Wayne had a dream/vision that the Virgin Mary told him to name the band "The Flaming Lips", or maybe it was a flaming pie.

I somehow got the impression (inside of ufo dvd being part of it) they got the name from watching the Northern Lights.

If you read the Z to A on the main page (there is a little tab in the bottom left corner) it says that they don't use them anymore I know Steven used to at least.
