Do you prefer the Ronald/Steven/Wayne/Micheal line-up or the Jonathan/Nathan/Wayne/Micheal lineup? I prefer the Jonathan/Nathan lineup because In A Preist Driven Ambulance and Hit To Death In The Future Head are two of the greatest records ever made, EVER. Although Ronald's guitar playing is very good, you just can' go wrong with Jonathan. As for the drumming I don't know, Steven is extraordinary, not to discredit Nathan but I have to say Steven is better but in terms of recorded output, The Jonathan/Nathan lineup wins.

It all comes down to personal taste. I don't really care to listen to early early Lips stuff - I acknowledge that they're really good records, but I don't find them very pleasurable to listen to. To each their own. I love Transmissions and Clouds Taste Metallic, the albums just sound better to me. I love all of the playing on those records.

the shows back in the early mid-90s w/ the great light show, Ronald would make your ears bleed. Ahh the feeling of being high w/out drugs. The Pretty Lights Prozac Period.

All of my wildest fondest memories were spent learning about the coolness of the lips when I didnt know who they were as a drug addled twenty year old. They were unappologetic and out of control early on and went through their indie pop phase and onto their mid period what do we do now..and onto their symphonic ELO come J pop. I loved it all but I have to say the searing screetching guitars of Ronald Jones and loud drums was what I thought it was all about.

Steven and Ronald are my two biggest musical "heroes", for me, they win hands down. Clouds Taste Metallic for the win.

This boils down to In a Priest Driven Ambulance and Hit to Death in the Future Head Vs Transmissions from the Satellite Heart and Clouds Taste Metallic, which is tricky as they are 4 of my top 4 favourite albums.

Jonathan and nathan. I love how noisy those two records were.

I'd say Ronald/Steven, but that's mostly just because that's when I got into the lips for the first time.
