Hey Kliph,

Are there any songs off embryonic that stand out when you think of ones that would be fun to play live?

Is the Ego's Last Stand one of them????

Kliph-

I just realized you're on Sunshine Fix's first album. What song or songs do you play on? It seems like everyone in the liner notes played drums at some point on the album. Have you played on any other Elephant 6 albums? I've always thought that any of those bands would be great openers for the Lips, especially the Olivia Tremor Control. I'll keep dreaming....maybe Cornelius will join the show as well. Thanks again!

He did play a lot of them. Off the top of my head, that's him on "Convinced Of The Hex", "See The Leaves", "Your Bats", "The Ego's Last Stand" and "Worm Mountain". He may have done one or two more. Everything went so quick that it's hard to remember for sure.

Thanks!

That was the very first time that I have not been disappointed with an album I've been eagerly anticipating the release date of. Super psychedelic and balls out!

Thanks again.

I notice during the "Secret Show" that visually the performance was very stripped down, no confetti, balloons, streamers, dancers etc etc. I just wondered if this was down to practicality or whether this is the sort of aesthetic you guys were going for this tour/at the moment?

Apologies as normal if it's been asked.

Smile

No, it was just for that show. We'll have the gizmos and hoo-has for the rest.

I really don't know what differences anybody's hoping for. It's mainly because some people like listening to records, so they should be able to listen to Embryonic on record if they want to. Michael's usually pretty involved with the vinyl mastering process, but wasn't able to be this time as we were touring.

I don't know. I haven't heard from her.

And this bored will go away, though I'm not sure when. If you want to pay WB to keep hosting it, I'm sure they would, but we're not going to.

Sandwiches are good and June 16th is the coolest day ever. The Minutemen even did a song about it.

Oh and you totally look kick ass in that gold jacket! Big Grin

We're having a hard time getting that video shown due to all the nudity, but it'll get out there sooner or later.

And I hate that stupid jacket. The dumb wardrobe girl made me wear it and I was too big of a wuss to tell her to piss off.

I haven't heard anything about it. Our schedule is pretty packed as it is, so I don't know if there would even be time.

This isn't the place for song requests.

What new songs are you guys thinking about incorporating into your set? May I suggest The Ego's Last Stand and Watching the Planets? Also, I think I Can Be a Frog works well as a singalong, but perhaps take out the pauses between every line- there's plenty of time to make animal noises while the music is still rolling, it gets kind of awkward when it keeps starting and stopping. (No offense intended)

Dunno about the UFO. And we'll keep working new songs into the set as we have time to practice them.

Supposedly playing it at very loud volumes creates the effect of the music actually coming from inside your head, and out of your ears. I haven't actually experienced this, but I think it sounds cool, and might be the sort of thing yourself and the guys might be interested in discovering (if you havent already) or maybe even trying? THANKS

Once again, it's so cool that you do this KliphBig Grin

I haven't heard it. That's a pretty bold claim for a record to make.

Because it would be cheap and obvious.

"The Ego's Last Stand" could be fun. It's hard to say, really. I thought "The Sparrow Looks Up At The Machine" would be super easy and fun, but we struggled with it for a bit and put it aside for the time being. I also thought "Pompeii Am Götterdämmerung" would be super easy to do, but it took us something like 6 different arrangements before we hit on one that worked in a live situation.

I'm on that song "A Better Way To Be" or whatever it's called. That's the only Elephant 6 recording I've been on and I wasn't even sure I'd be on that one. We were in Athens in 2000 and had a day off and I went to Bill's house and he was working on that song and asked if I'd lay a scratch drum part down so he could continue working on it. I did and then a while later I bought the album and was surprised (and honored) to find my shitty scratch drum track on it.

And if you want to see Cornelius and the Lips together, you should have seen one of the Music Against Brain Degeneration shows. Cornelius were fantastic.
